Lila, Asleep at the Wheel

This is Lila tonight while I was feeding her some butternut squash... she'd take a bite then close her eyes, finally she just kept them closed. We left her in the seat for about 30 minutes like this, even though Vaughn was trying to tickle her feet to wake her up. He finally achieved this. Damn kids.

Coming up...

It's still a while away, but at least there's some solid plans on the horizon... We're heading east to Philly via New York in June for our friends' wedding, going to stay an extra 2 days to putz around Philly and New York without the kids. Big stuff for us! Hopefully my mom will be coming out to babysit!

work, work, work... babies, parks, doctors... crying, bottles, burps, diapers... work, work, work... it's all part of life. Lately there doesn't seem to be much more than that. These are on my immediate wish list, please!

Off to a bad start to 2010

I just realized that I haven't posted a blog since before Xmas... I would like to have some great excuse like "busy traveling through southern asia for the last 6 weeks" or "can't decided what to blow my lottery winnings on" but the fact is that I have become even more lazy in 2010 than 2009. After spending the last week in 2009 surfing twice a day in Mexico and hanging out with family and friends, I have only succeeded is surfing once so far in 2010, and that was on January 1st! In my defense, work has been really busy, this damn daylight savings is still going on, and Juli has been feeling some especially ill-effects of her Crohn's disease. Plus having two kids is more time consuming than I initially imagined, duh! My updated New Years resolution will be to post more updates here. (obviously surfing at least 3x a week has not panned out!)

Anyway, enough complaining... We have had some great moments so far in 2010, and here are some of them:

Good one of Mom and Pops

My parents came to visit... I'm been super busy working... Not posting here... We have a lot of good pics, but this is a pretty solid one of the Grandparents with the babies. It was a short trip, but hopefully this is the last leg of their time abroad and we'll have more babysitting time coming up real soon.

Thanksgiving times three!

This year, we've been stretching Thanksgiving out a bit. Last weekend we did the big dinner here at our house with my little brother Joey, gf Anamique (or Mimi as Vaughn says) and some friends. I made a turkey meatloaf and Juli did the rest of the trimmings. Then on the real turkey day we ventured down to San Diego to Juli's cousins and had an awesome family gathering with her extended cousins, aunt and uncle... I did a lot of guessing as to exactly how everyone is related, and Juli kept having to correct me. It was great to be around all the family and we had a nice day. Then yesterday we went to the Brough's where they were celebrating a day late! They did the entire dinner spread and we made one of Juli's pumpkin cheesecakes... mmmmm! Vaughn and Lola played for hours, while the little babies, Penny and Lila pretended to play, and the adults drank themselves silly. It was a good night and we ended up swimming in the pool and spa and Vaughn is so tired that he's been sleeping for 12 hours.... All three thanksgivings were great! We have a lot to be thankful for!

Of course, we didn't take many pics... Robbie and Marcella spent the night with us Wednesday and went to her family's house on Thanksgiving, but they did take this pic before they left, so this counts:


And here is Juli and Uncle Mark when we were on our way home after dinner... They are sailing south into Mexico this weekend for the next 6 months! Lucky!

Lazy Saturday Afternoons!

Family time!

We've been having a lot of family time lately... Juli's aunt and uncle have been hanging around and helping with the kids on their way south. Last weekend they headed more south, and left Newport for San Diego. Juli and her dad sailed with them to Dana Point while I was on babysitting duties. They'll be in SD for another couple weeks and then down to Mexico. Here's our last family pic on the steps of their family "beach house" in Balboa. We'll miss you guys!

Lila sleeps like a baby!

Here's a nice pic from Juli's phone of Lila sleeping like a lil angel. She's been kicking ass at sleeping lately, going for 4-6 hours at a time. Such a good little girl, now all she has to do is keep it up for the next 18 years or so.

HalloWEEN pics!

Went spent Halloween down in Balboa with Mark and Vicki and went sailing on the boat with Anamique's parents. Afterwards, we carved pumpkins, drank mimosas, and went trick or treating... maybe not in that order. It was a good Halloween, and Vaughn even wore the monkey suit and went door to door getting treats. Lila was the hot dog and I was Spamalot - or something. That's what you get with last minute costumes.

We (were) on a boat!

Today, we went on a boat! Uncle Mark took us sailing, and only about a mile or so off Newport we saw a nice little pod of whales pretty close by... there was about 6 of them spouting all over. Maybe going again next weekend in Catalina, we'll see... Woo-hoo!
